Resolution passed unanimously by the Cambridge School Committee
on December 7, 1999:
The Superintendent is instructed to institute a policy of no reprisals against
students who boycott the test.
Alternative instructional settings should be provided for these students
wherever possible. No reprisals are to be taken against teachers or
administrators who speak out in criticism of MCAS. A copy of these motions is
to be sent to Cambridge¹s State Representatives and Senators, the Association
of School Committees, the Department of Education, and the Association of
Superintendents. Cambridge will request that the Association of School
Committees serve as a repository for this and other local resolutions against the
MCAS.
