Ballot Question in November


Education question on the ballot Nov. 7!


"Defend and Enhance Our Public Schools; Vote Yes on Question 9!." 

Voters in Cambridge, Somerville, West Roxbury, Holyoke and New Bedford will be able to
express their views on public education on November 7th.

Question 9 reads

"Shall the Representative from this district support legislation that;

bulletequitably invests state funds in local schools for quality education; 
bulletreduces class sizes; 
bullet excludes use of voucher programs which siphon funds from public education; 
bullet bars for-profit schools from public funding;
bulletsuspends the MCAS test as the criteria for promotion or graduation, and 
bulletestablishes an authentic and fair assessment system of educational progress for our students and their schools."

This six point plan in this question represent a minimum program that parents, teachers and 
students can work together on to defend and enhance our public schools.
